Bernhard Wicki Award went to the comedy film "Paulette"
"Film is coming home" was a motto at this year's International Filmfest Emden-Norderney. Two award winners had already won the favour of the audience in Emden in former years. Georg Maas, whose film "Zwei Leben" won the NDR Young Directors Award, had already been a guest at the Festival in 2003. And Nathan Nill, who received the East Frisian Short Film Award in 2012 with "I have a Boat", managed to win the new "Engelke Award" this year for his film "Stufe 3".
This year was also the year of comedy in Emden. On Friday the Screenplay Award had already been given to a comedy, and now "Paulette" by Jérôme Enrico was another comedy to win the Bernhard Wicki Award.
With over 600 guests present the gala event with the award ceremony of the International Filmfest Emden-Norderney was completely sold out. In his eulogy Peter Kaempfe decribed how impressed he was with the intensity of Rohde's performance and said,
"Hardly anyone plays rough guys as authentically as Armin Rohde. His great physicality in his performances is impressive and he always looks as if he gives everything he has in and for his roles. He refuses to be reduced to a single character and is always good for a surprise […] Audiences always experience the films that Armin Rohde plays in as particularly intense – and that is in large part due to the man himself, his acting, his presence and his precision.
