August: Osage County, will receive the 2013 Capri, Hollywood Best Acting Ensemble of the Year

Award To Be Presented December 30th Following The Films Premiere Showing In Anacapri

 

 

The stellar cast of one of the year’s most highly anticipated films, August: Osage County, will receive the 2013 Capri, Hollywood – The International Film Festival’s Best Acting Ensemble of the Year Award, The cast includes Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Ewan McGregor, Chris Cooper, Abigail Breslin, Benedict Cumberbatch, Juliette Lewis, Margo Martindale, Dermot Mulroney, Julianne Nicholson, Sam Shepard and Misty Upham.. The award will be presented December 30th following the film’s Italian premiere showing here at the Cinema Paradiso Theatre in Anacapri.

Directed by John Wells from a screenplay by Tracy Letts based on his Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winnng play, August: Osage County was produced by Harvey Weinstein, Jean Doumanian, George Clooney, Grant Heslov and Steve Traxler. It will be released in the United States on Christmas Day by The Weinstein Company, and will be released in Italy by BIM on February 6th.

The announcement was made here today by noted Italian filmmaker Lina Wertmuller, the Festival’s honorary president, who said: “We are honored to be able to screen this prestigious film which is sure to become a cinematic classic at Capri, Hollywood, and to present our Best Acting Ensemble award to the amazing cast that brings this intriguing story to life in a highly-dramatic, imaginative way.”

“We are extremely grateful to Harvey Weinstein and Valerio De Paolis for giving our ‘small-sized’ event another major international premiere that complements two other year-end masterpieces – ‘12 Years a Slave’ by Steve McQueen and ‘American Hustle’ by David O’ Russell,” added Festival founder and producer Pascal Vicedomini. He noted that last year’s Best Acting Ensemble award went to Russell’s Silver Linings Playbook, which was also distributed by The Weinstein Company.

British Film director Michael Radford and Councilor Paschal Sommese will be chairing the 18th annual edition of the well-respected gathering that celebrates cinematic art and the “made in Italy” cultural trademark. This year’s festival, organized by the Capri World Institute with the support of the Italian Ministry of Culture (Dg Cinema), The European Union and The Campania Region of Italy, will take place December 27th through January 2nd 2014.

Additional information regarding films, honorees and attendees will be revealed in the coming weeks, with the final rundown of Capri, Hollywood 2013 announced in mid- December. The festival will also present juried awards to the best Italian films of the year and will sponsor galas where the 2013 Capri Awards will be presented to an exciting array of filmmakers and stars.

Capri, Hollywood – The International Film Festival 2013 is directed by Pascal Vicedomini and produced by the Capri World Institute. The Honorary Board of the Festival is comprised of Mark Canton, Jim Gianopulos, Harvey Weinstein, Jeremy Thomas, Avi Lerner, Lawrence Bender, Jason Weinberg, Vanessa Redgrave as well as Dante Ferretti, Francesca Lo Schiavo, Franco Nero and Italian music legend Tony Renis.

The celebration of International cinema will include many film premieres, a tribute to iconic Swedish actress Ingrid Bergman, a retrospective of the most remarkable films of the past season as well as ceremonies for the much sought-after Capri Awards that will go to actors, writers and filmmakers.
