the people have spoken!

We are thrilled to announce the 2017 GU Film House Audience Awards, as voted by our audiences.

Best Feature went to Warwick Thornton's frontier western - Sweet Country.  If you missed this during the festival, there's another chance - the official release is set for March 16, 2018. Phew!

It's not surprising that Jill Bilcock: dancing the Invisible scooped up Best Documentary - the hugely entertaining film about the editor behind Baz Luhrmann’s red curtain trilogy of Strictly Ballroom (1992), Romeo + Juliet (1996) and Moulin Rouge! (2001), among many others.

And it's far from strange that Oddlands took Best Short.  If you didn't see this at our Art On Screen premiere, we heard a rumour that it'll be broadcast on ABC TV early next year. Watch that space.

ARTWORK UP FOR AUCTION

Could you be the next owner of one of these?

Our 2017 Reactive Wall artists took up residence for a day each in the Film Festival courtyard.  We were lucky to have artists JACK, JS2KE, KAB101 and SHEP + CASPER paint their responses to four films in the program.

Details of the auction - the when, where and how, will be revealed next week, Tuesday 31 Oct. Stay tuned for more details here.

All proceeds go back to the artists. Special thanks to legendary SA street artist, KAB101, who coordinated the project and the City of Adelaide for making this possible.

.... and that's a wrap

ADL Film Fest 2017 has been and gone, but this isn't goodbye....

We're back on in 2018.  YAAASSS !!

No more vague memories of film festivals been or waiting around two years for the program to go live on the website.

So if you didn't get enough this year, you are in for a treat in 11 months time. Not that we're counting down or anything.

Thanks to all our supporters and the yaysayers for getting us there - we're going back to back, baby, and it never felt better.

Roll on 2018.
